IT’S HIGH TIME FOR HIGH EFFICIENCY HAND WATERING

According to Watersense (https://www.epa.gov/watersense/when-its-hot), 9 billions gallons are used per day (in the USA) to water gardens and landscapes and 4.5 billion gallons (50%) are wasted due inefficient watering methods and systems. Annually, 1.65 trillion gallons of drinking water are wasted. How many more trillions worldwide?
Outdoor water conservation policy isn’t working. As stated above, “waste is due to inefficient watering methods and systems”. To reduce waste, replace low efficiency products with high efficiency products. It’s been done for 30+ years inside the home. It’s time to move outside.
Water conservation programs (worldwide) follow the same rulebook. Drip Irrigation is recommended as the most efficient watering system. Although it’s expensive, installation difficult, it’s prone to waste due to misaligned or broken emitters, sliced tubing, leaks, inefficient installation, etc, and the waste continues until detected which can be hours, days, or weeks.
The current water conservation strategy of drip Irrigation, smart controllers, sprinkler tuneups, xeriscaping, mulch, and rules of watering aren’t enough. The strategy has to include high efficiency hand watering products. Every drop counts!
The time to save water is now. The WiserWand is ready. Let it be the first high efficiency hand watering product. If successful, watering companies will take notice and within one or two years, 10+ new high efficiency products will be released and the days of low efficiency watering products are numbered.
Success requires demand. Demand requires water conservation programs to take one small step. Evaluate the product. Run a small pilot test. If it meets the requirements for high efficiency, offer it to customers at subsidized prices.
Give it away to community and school gardens. Get it in the hands of children. It’s easy because children like to water with the WiserWand. Children are the future of saving water. Children that water efficiently, water efficiently as adults, as will their children, and every generation to follow. The demand for high efficiency products will increase with every generation and companies will be driven to develop more efficient products. Trillions and trillions of gallons of water will be saved year after year.

WISERWAND VERSUS DRIP IRRIGATION

By accident, a perfect scenario to compare the WiserWand and Drip Irrigation was set-up by Steve Yantis from Olympia WA. He has a large garden and used Drip Irrigation from 2013 until mid-July 2016 when he switched to the WiserWand. He knew it was a “better way” so he turned off Drip and used the WiserWand the remainder of the summer. This allowed water usage to be compared using data reported on the City of Olympia, September water bill which covers 63-65 days in August and September. Why 20%? WaterSense labeled products are certified to be 20% more efficient than comparable low efficiency products. Unfortunately, WaterSense doesn’t certify water delivery products (i.e. hand watering, drip irrigation, automatic sprinkler systems). The 20% guarantee is a method of self-certifying the WiserWand. To date, it has not lost a challenge.
